Sharing her memories

Date of news/blog: 17th December 2023

Beryl Morgan spent her working career helping to put bad people in prison, and now she enjoys sharing her memories with the ladies and gentlemen at Foxhunters.

There’s always a crowded room when Beryl gives one of her talks, with people rapt by her description of life as a Forensic Scientist.

Beryl began her career in the early 1970s after graduating from university.

As a Government Forensic Scientist, she was responsible for visiting scenes of crime to sample anything which may bring the perpetrators to justice, such as debris on doors or windows or dirt on clothing.

In one of her recent presentations, which she gives with the aid of her own drawings, she explained how she would collect debris from the scene and use this in the laboratory to see if it matched any debris which may be on the suspect’s clothing.

This also happened with paint flakes that may be found on windows, or any blood which may have been left at the scene.

Often, Beryl would be called to court to present her findings, with her evidence being used to convict offenders.

Beryl says: “It was a very interesting job and looking back it’s good to know the work we did helped put people who committed crimes in prison.”

Beryl is adapting to life at Foxhunters, having moved into the home recently and enjoys sharing her stories with our ladies and gentlemen and taking part in our activities.
