Frequently Asked Questions

What types of care are provided at Glenburnie Lodge?

Glenburnie Lodge offers a comprehensive range of care services to meet the diverse needs of our ladies and gentlemen. These include:

  • Residential Care: For those who need support with daily living activities but do not require nursing care. Our compassionate staff assist with personal care, medication management, and everyday tasks while promoting independence.
  • Nursing Care: Provided by qualified nurses 24/7 for ladies and gentlemen with more complex medical needs, including wound care, catheter management, and regular health monitoring.
  • Dementia Care: Specialised care for those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s, focusing on safety, routine, and engagement with memory-supportive activities led by trained staff.
  • Respite Care: Short-term stays designed to provide a break for carers or support recovery after hospital stays or illness, offering flexible admission periods.
  • Palliative Care: In partnership with St David’s Hospice, we provide compassionate end-of-life care, focusing on comfort, dignity, and symptom management.
How is care personalised for each individual?

Every new lady or gentleman undergoes a thorough assessment by our experienced care team to understand their physical, emotional, and social needs. From this, a bespoke care plan is created in consultation with them, and their family. Care plans are regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure our ladies and gentlemen receive the most appropriate support as their needs change.

How does Glenburnie Lodge support those with dementia?

Our dementia care approach is centred on providing a safe, structured environment that reduces anxiety and promotes familiarity. Staff receive ongoing dementia-specific training to support communication and behaviour management. Activities are designed to stimulate memory and cognitive function, including reminiscence therapy, music, and art. The living spaces are clearly marked and designed to be easy to navigate.

Can individuals move between different types of care if their needs change?

One of the key benefits of Glenburnie Lodge is its ability to offer seamless transitions between care types without the need to relocate. For example, an individual starting with residential care can move to nursing or dementia care within the home if their condition changes, ensuring continuity and stability.

How does Glenburnie Lodge handle medication management?

Medication is managed by our trained nursing and care staff following strict protocols. Prescriptions are reviewed regularly with GPs and pharmacists to ensure safety. Our ladies and gentlemen are supported with timely administration and monitoring of their medications based on their specific needs.
