Generations of people

Date of news/blog: 17th December 2023

There are generations of people living in Wales, and further afield, who have Lilian Jones to thank for teaching them how to speak Welsh.

Lilian spent her entire career teaching, with the Welsh language and music her two specialisms.
She taught in schools in Wales and England with her husband Geoff, whom she first met walking on the promenade.

“We worked in Buckinghamshire which was a lovely part of the world and convenient to see the shows in London which we both enjoyed, but ultimately we missed the mountains and moved back to work in schools in Wales,” says Lilian.

Lilian became a head teacher in Pontypool before she retired and for years continued to receive letters and cards from the people she had taught.

Getting a little frail and with Geoff having sadly passed, Lilian came to Foxhunters on respite and ended up staying permanently.

“I am very happy here,” she says.

“Everyone is so friendly and my family visit me and bring our dog Branwen, so I always look forward to that.”
