Update: January 2021

Our number one priority during the Covid-19 pandemic continues to be the welfare of everyone living and working in our homes. We have followed guidance issued by both UK and Welsh government as well as Public Health departments in both England and Wales. In light of the recent lockdown restrictions implemented by both governments, we have reviewed our risk assessment and have determined that we will only be offering visits on compassionate grounds for the foreseeable future. This is in line with the ‘stay home’ guidance for the whole of the UK.

We appreciate that this is a distressing time for many and that this decision will be difficult to accept. However, we have always worked diligently in order to maintain the highest standards of health and safety. We will continue to do this until such time as it is deemed to be safer. We continue to closely monitor both our staff teams and those living in the home as per the guidance issued and adhere to the isolation requirements as necessary. Please continue to check our web site for further updates.

Update: 07/07/2020

Dormy Care Communities is working hard to ensure that the safety and well-being of those who live in our homes and our staff teams is maintained at all times. We continue to be a caring and safe environment with excellent standards of infection control as we aim to deliver the highest levels of service and support during this difficult period. Subject to a clinical assessment, we are accepting new admissions in to our homes. We will continue to adhere to government guidelines as well as additional policies and procedures to ensure the utmost safety of everyone. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your individual requirements so please do get in touch so that we can answer your questions and address any concerns.

Update: 16/06/2020

In light of the recent guidance regarding the relaxation of social distancing, we are very pleased to start offering garden visits to our homes. All relatives have already been informed of the strict processes in place which will facilitate these visits which are on an appointment-only basis. We appreciate how difficult it has been for families not being able to see one another over the last 12 weeks and we hope that this step will lead to further relaxation in the future. However, this will always be in line with government guidance and always ensuring the safety and well being of everyone living and working in the home.

Our decision to stop all visitors was a difficult but necessary step to take to keep everyone as safe as possible. We have followed guidance issued by both UK and Welsh government as well as Public Health departments in both England and Wales.

Update: 21/03/2020

In light of further government guidelines we have taken the decision to close to all visitors with immediate effect.

Our priority continues to be our ladies, gentlemen and staff.

Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.

Update: 19/03/2020

We currently do not have any confirmed cases of Covid-19 in any of our homes.

We have decided to remain open to visitors on the basis that the visit is reasonable ( both in duration and frequency) and necessary. You are still required to meet with your relative in their own room and not use the communal areas.

In order to keep the ladies and gentlemen living in our home as safe as possible, we have introduced the additional requirement for all visitors to the home to have their temperature recorded at the point of entry. This will be implemented immediately.

  • When you arrive at the door, please make yourself known to a member of staff and do not proceed until you have been seen.
  • Staff trained to undertake this test will do so using a digital ear thermometer and make a record of it.
  • If you refuse to be tested, you will be denied entry to the home.
  • If you record a temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius or above, you will also be denied entry and should return home and self-isolate. You should then follow the guidance on self-isolation issued by the Dept of Health.
  • This action will be continued until further notice.

I do hope that you will agree that this additional measure is with the aim of further enhancing our commitment to keep everyone who lives and works in the home as safe and healthy as possible.

We are acutely aware that this is an extremely stressful time for all of us and your support is very much appreciated, thank you.

Update: 13/03/2020

Dormy Care Communities can confirm that plans have long been in place to ensure that every team member is fully prepared to continue to provide the highest standard of care and service to residents in the event of an outbreak within our communities. We would like to offer our reassurance that we currently do not have any confirmed cases in any of our homes.

With that in mind, our priority is to maintain the safety of the ladies and gentlemen living in the homes as well as our staff teams.
We have taken the decision therefore to cancel all outside entertainment planned to come into the home for the foreseeable future.
Our infection control measures continue and our contingency plans to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest standards of care and service are being followed diligently.

To assist us as much as possible, we have respectfully asked that only essential visits to the home are undertaken and on entering the home, loved ones are met with in their own rooms and not in communal spaces. Hand hygiene is of paramount importance and are insisting that the protocol already in place is followed i.e. wash your hands for at least 20 seconds and then apply hand sanitising gel that is made available in every home.

These decisions have not been taken lightly and are in the best interests of everyone living and working in the home.

We would respectfully request that if you have any symptoms that might indicate influenza please refrain from visiting and contact NHS 111 for advice and support. Similarly, as per government guidelines if you have recently returned from a high risk area also contact NHS 111

Update: 11/03/2020

At this stage, all staff and visitors have been briefed to report suspected cases and to avoid entering the communities if they are at risk of carrying/having contracted the virus.

  • Unnecessary visiting has been restricted and animals are no longer allowed in the homes.
  • Good hygiene practice is critical and alcohol hand sanitiser is provided for all visitors at the entrances the premises.
  • Any new admissions are carefully considered and will be isolated if indicated on the advice of local health professionals.
  • Hygiene standards are constantly monitored.

The team is in ongoing contact with the Dept of Health, Public Health England and Wales, UK Government, Welsh Assembly Government, NHS as well as local pandemic co-ordinators and health professionals

We would respectfully request that if you have any symptoms that might indicate influenza please refrain from visiting and contact NHS 111 for advice and support. Similarly, as per government guidelines if you have recently returned from a high risk area also contact NHS 111
