Putting local suppliers on the map
Date of news/blog: 23rd September 2026For Dormy Care Communities, food is much more than a daily routine. Across our five homes, mealtimes are treated as an important part of wellbeing, comfort and community — a chance for our ladies and gentlemen to enjoy fresh, carefully prepared dishes in a welcoming dining setting.
That commitment begins with the ingredients. Dormy’s approach is to buy locally wherever possible, supporting trusted suppliers close to each home while also drawing on selected national partners where scale, consistency and specialist products are needed. It is a practical balance – local relationships help bring freshness, knowledge and regional character to the menu, while wider supply networks ensure every home can maintain dependable standards day after day.
The group’s food supply reflects that blend. Creed Foodservice supplies all Dormy homes with ambient, frozen and some chilled goods, giving our chefs a reliable foundation for store cupboard essentials and core catering needs.
Fresh produce is sourced through suppliers chosen for the homes they serve – Dole supplies Brockington House, Foxhunters and Glenburnie Lodge with fruit and vegetables, dairy and bread, while Country Fare provides the same for Pine Martin Grange and Bramshott Grange.
Meat is another area where Dormy looks to keep supply rooted in local expertise. Pine Martin Grange works with family butcher B Curtis, Glenburnie Lodge with Glen Griffiths Butchers, Foxhunters with Beavans Butchers and Brockington House with Neil Powell Butchers and Bramshott Grange uses Highland Crown.
This supplier mix supports the promise Dormy we make to our ladies, gentlemen, families and prospective families, which is to offer chef-prepared dining using fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, with seasonal menus designed to offer variety, flavour and nourishment.
For the people living in our homes, that means menus shaped by quality, freshness and personal preference.
For local businesses, it means meaningful, ongoing relationships with care homes that value regional suppliers and the skill they bring.
Buying locally is not simply a nice-to-have, it helps Dormy’s chefs build menus around trusted produce, strengthens links with the communities around each home and keeps investment circulating close to where our homes are.
National suppliers still play an important role, particularly in ensuring consistency, resilience and access to specialist products across the group. But Dormy’s food philosophy is clear – where there is an opportunity to work with local and family-run suppliers without compromising quality or reliability, that is the preferred route.
It is an approach that connects good food with good care. By combining local purchasing, chef-led menus and dependable supply partnerships, Dormy Care Communities is able to offer the ladies and gentlemen living in our homes meals that feel thoughtful, familiar and freshly made — while also backing the businesses that help make those meals possible.
