Our Location

Why you should consider the beautiful city of Hereford

What better place to live than in the charming cathedral city of Hereford. With rural landscapes and quaint market towns all around the bustling city, there is something for everyone in this lovely part of the world.

Exploring the local area together

We organise regular day trips out to explore the local area. Tailored around the interests and abilities of the ladies and gentlemen who live with us, we offer a variety of outings from picnics in the local park to historic site visits, trips to scenic hot-spots or pub lunches.

Getting our and about

We have a dedicated wheelchair-friendly vehicle which offers accessibility for all and ensures that everyone is able to enjoy day trips out. A fully inclusive service, this comes at no extra cost and is available to residents whenever they would like to use it.

Hereford and the local area

Hereford Cathedral (With SAS Memorial)

Hereford Cathedral is a stunning medieval 14th century building that sits right in the heart of the city. It has beautiful architecture and stained-glass windows, as well as a little coffee shop where you can enjoy refreshments. There is also an important artwork featured in the cathedral, in the form of a sculpture and stained-glass window, to mark the 75th anniversary of the SAS.

Hereford museum and art gallery

A beautifully old building featuring art by locally born artists, this museum and gallery has been open since 1847. In 2005, it became the first museum in the UK to invest in the Talking Tactile Tablet for those who experience difficulty in seeing. The tablet was co-developed by the Hereford based Royal National College for the Blind, alongside a U.S. software company.

National Trust - The weir garden

The Weir Garden is a spectacular riverside garden with acres of land, stunning scenery, flowers and wildlife – the perfect location for an afternoon trip or summertime picnic. Open all year round, it is a wonderful day out and has lots of interesting features to see on your way around.

Hereford cider museum

Discover the longstanding history of cider making at the Hereford cider museum. Established in 1970 to preserve the story of cider making, you can learn about the distillation process, the science and history and see lots of wonderful artefacts and collections of cider throughout the years. It also has full wheelchair accessibility, so is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Wye Valley butterfly zoo

Visit the tropical indoor butterfly zoo and see all the exotic butterflies in their natural habitats. Staff are on hand to provide educational facts about the butterflies and there is also a picnic area outside for a spot of lunch afterwards. Just a 35-minute trip from Brockington House, it’s a lovely day out for ladies and gentlemen who enjoy watching wildlife.

International Bird of Prey Centre

Just a 35-minute drive from Brockington House is the International Bird of Prey Centre, with more than 250 incredible birds of prey to see. They have regular bird flying displays, acres of land, glorious gardens, fields and woods making it a beautiful location to spend the afternoon and a lovely day out.
