Excellent environment
Date of news/blog: 13th August 2026Glenburnie Lodge has been praised for its excellent environment and highly inclusive facilities in a national inspection report.
We were rated as excellent for environment and good in three other key areas – well-being, care and support and leadership and management – in a report by the Care Inspectorate Wales. It follows an inspection carried out in July.
This came just a short time after a new inspection ratings system for care services in Wales came into force to help ensure people receive the best possible care. The regulator of services in the country, Care Inspectorate Wales, introduced the system to help people better understand the quality of care provided, making it easier for individuals and families to make informed decisions about their care options.
In the report, the inspector noted how people and relatives at Glenburnie Lodge spoke positively about the support they receive.
One relative told inspectors: “The home is quick to respond to health needs.”
Another said: “The trips arranged for the residents are purposeful and are open to all.”
And one relative said: “My mother is always clean and tidy, her well-being has improved dramatically, and she is included in activities she can participate in.”
The inspection commended the exceptionally well-maintained and welcoming environment at Glenburnie Lodge, noting thoughtfully designed communal spaces, personalised bedrooms, accessible gardens and facilities that support comfort, independence, social interaction and family involvement.
Inspectors found that people benefit from a wide range of activities, community involvement and personalised opportunities, including regular outings, garden parties, themed events and creative projects. The report also praises the home’s commitment to preserving residents’ personal histories through initiatives such as Magical Musical Memories, an interactive book celebrating musical memories.
The report recognises the home’s strong governance arrangements, visible and approachable leadership and positive culture of learning and continuous improvement. Staff spoke positively about improved morale, teamwork and support, while inspectors found comprehensive systems in place to monitor quality, safety and performance.
Importantly, Care Inspectorate Wales identified no areas for improvement.
