Technology

Enhancing Resident Wellbeing with Interactive Technology

At Dormy Care Communities, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by investing in innovative solutions that promote engagement, stimulation, and joy. One such innovation is the Tovertafel – a “magic table” that uses interactive light games to provide therapeutic benefits, particularly for those living with dementia.

Innovative Dementia Care Tool

The Tovertafel, meaning “magic table” in Dutch, projects colourful, interactive light games onto a table surface. Using infrared sensors, it responds to hand and arm movements, encouraging residents to interact, play, and move.

Therapeutic Benefits Beyond Entertainment

While fun and engaging, the games are specifically designed to stimulate mental, social, and physical activity. They can help reduce negative dementia-related behaviours such as apathy, agitation, restlessness, and wandering.

Tailored for Resident Needs

Each game is carefully developed to match residents’ abilities, with adjustable speed and difficulty. This ensures that all participants, regardless of cognitive stage, can enjoy and benefit from the experience.
