A challenging charity run
Date of news/blog: 13th August 2026Members of the kitchen team at a Hereford care home tickled pink supporters after completing a challenging charity run in aid of a national cancer charity.
The team from Brockington House Care Community, in Hafod Road, took part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K obstacle course at Cheltenham Racecourse in June, raising £623.75 for Cancer Research UK.
Dressed in matching pink versions of their usual uniforms, Head Chef Cihan Wiltshire, Second Chef Ash Davies, Host Tyler Davies and Kitchen Assistant Harley Lamb tackled the muddy course, which included intense mud runs and military-style netting crawls.
It was the third time Cihan, Ash and Tyler had represented Brockington House in the Race for Life, while Harley was taking part for the first time.
The Brockington House team’s fundraising contributed to the wider Cheltenham event, which generated more than £200,000 in total for Cancer Research UK.
Ash said: “We certainly stood out at the start in our pink uniforms, although they were definitely in need of a good wash by the end.
“The course was tough, with lots of mud and obstacles to get through, but it was great fun and a brilliant team bonding experience. We are incredibly proud to have raised £623.75 for Cancer Research UK and grateful to everyone who supported us.”
Alexandra Ghioc-Onisor, Home Director at Brockington House, said: “Everyone loves seeing the kitchen team get involved in activities like this and we were all right behind them with plenty of encouragement and good wishes. The team bring such a wonderful sense of fun to Brockington House and we are all very proud of them for using that spirit to support Cancer Research UK.”
