Touched our hearts with their compassion

Date of news/blog: 17th April 2026

‘Recognising those who have truly touched our hearts with their compassion towards our ladies and gentlemen with the support and dedication they show’

All the Dormy Awards are important, but the Compassion and Dignity category is always particularly special as it highlights the members of staff who go above and beyond in the care and support the provide to people living in our care communities.

Chloe Rogers was the gold award winner in our 2025 awards, which is a fantastic achievement given she only joined Glenburnie Lodge a year previously.

Before Glenburnie Lodge, Chloe worked in home care and then in an extra-care (supported living) scheme. When the service changed provider, she decided it was time for a fresh start — and that decision brought her to Glenburnie Lodge.

For Chloe, caring for others wasn’t a sudden career change — it was something she had been doing in one way or another for years.

“I’ve always done a lot of looking after people in my family,” she says.

“When I was younger, I was looking after my brothers and sisters and growing older helping parents and grandparents, so it’s just in my nature really.”

Chloe joined the team in September 2024 as a Care Assistant. Although her previous experience in extra care shared some similarities, Glenburnie was her first residential care home and she noticed the difference straight away.

“It’s a lot different because you get much more time with the ladies and gentlemen and it’s not as rushed as the previous settings I worked,” she explains.

“It’s a beautiful home and I really enjoy it.”

Chloe says she was completely taken by surprise when her name was read out at the awards.

“My heart was racing,” she says.

“There were so many people in the room and I was gobsmacked, but it was an amazing feeling.”
