The Team

What truly makes our homes are the wonderful, highly trained staff we employ

Marie Wood, Home Director of Foxhunters

Home Director of Foxhunters

I’ve been in the care industry since leaving school. All I’ve ever done is care. I’ve worked in every role and I believe that gives me the ability to understand things from everyone’s perspective. It is my dream to manage a care home and I’m thrilled to be given this role at Foxhunters which is so fantastically thought through. It’s such a pleasure working with an establishment like Dormy Care Communities which shares my passion for providing excellent care for individuals. Abergavenny is a stunning town.

Everyone has been so welcoming and I’m greatly encouraged by the work that’s been done locally, before we officially open to quickly establish Foxhunters as a community home within the community. As Home Director my door is always open to support the ladies and gentlemen who live with us as well their family members.

Gillian Cook, Assistant Home Director of Foxhunters

Assistant Home Director of Foxhunters

I have been a trained general nurse for over 40 years during that time I also became midwife, but, I have always loved to work with older adults. My parents were Matron and warden of a care home in Bristol and I always liked to help out. So, after I had brought up my five children, I began to work in care homes about 27 years ago. About 20 years ago I became Matron/Manager of a home in Chepstow.

Moving to Abergavenny, I eagerly watched Foxhunters being built and as soon as I attended an interview and saw the home, I knew It was the place for me to work. It is exactly how a home for older adults should be, friendly staff. a warm welcoming atmosphere, wonderful food, excellent care and experienced trained nurses.

Alexander, Head Chef of Foxhunters

Head Chef of Foxhunters

Food has always been in my blood. I have worked for some very successful restaurants in London, culminating 15 years of industry experience. This has afforded me some amazing opportunities, including the service of private dinners within Windsor Castle and the opportunity to work with one of my industry role models, Angela Hartnett. It is a privilege and an honour to have worked alongside some of the industry leaders, but it is even more of an honour and a privilege to have to opportunity to use this experience to bring something special to the Care Industry.

Dormy Care Communities has created an opportunity for me to exercise and develop my passion, not just for food, but also for service, allowing me to try to create a truly unique and special dining experience within our Care Community. It is our aim to make the experience of food special for everyone within our community. Whether fully independent or living with dementia, it is my belief that everyone should be shown that same respect and be allowed to enjoy that experience as much as possible.

Alison, Head Housekeeper
