Inspired to become a nurse
Date of news/blog: 21st January 2026Molly Farney never planned to become a Care Assistant, but she enjoys the job so much that it has inspired her to become a Nurse and she will go to university in September to begin the studies that will lead to a new career for her.
Molly, 19, joined Brockington House in May 2025 on the recommendation of her friend Gabrielle who works as a Host at the home.
She made such an impression that less than six months later, she was picking up a silver award as Exceptional Newcomer in the 2025 Dormy Care Awards.
“That was such a shock, but I felt very proud of myself because it’s not a job that I thought I would be in,” admits Molly.
“It’s done wonders for my confidence and I am so glad that I listened to Gabrielle because I love working at Brockington House and have had the best people to help me settle and learn here.”
Molly says she has decided to pursue a career in nursing after seeing the Nurses working at Brockington House and on the recommendation of our Deputy Home Director Alex who is herself a Nurse.
“I am looking forward to starting at university and am hoping I will still be able to work at Brockington during the holidays,” says Molly.
“I am not sure where my nursing will take me in the future but if the opportunity to work at Brockington House in this capacity arises then it would definitely be something I would be interested in doing.”
Outside of work Molly enjoys going out on hikes with her boyfriend who lives in Wales.
